REFLECTIONS
Experience:
Over the past 14 weeks, I get to understand typography in a more detailed way and also learned about many knowledge and skills about typography. At first, I actually thought that typography was quite easy, but the more I dive into it, the more detail it gets. There were definitely some challenges during completing our assignments but at the same time I had a lot of fun while exploring different kind of designs for my assignment.
Observations:
Taking this module has completely changed the way I look at typography. Before, I barely noticed the details in how text was presented, I just look at the overall—but now, I catch myself analyzing fonts, spacing, and layout everywhere I go. Whether I’m scrolling through a website or looking at a restaurant menu, I’ve become much more aware of how these design choices influence how we read and respond to information and I realize that I have been spending more time on looking on creative typography designs on either Instagram and Pinterest and save them so that I can improve my work by that. It’s made me realize that typography isn’t just a visual element—it’s deeply connected to how messages are understood and how accessible they are to different readers.
Findings:
One of the biggest things I’ve taken away from this class is how effective simplicity can be. Throughout the assignments, I used to think bold or decorative designs were more interesting, I always think of making my design unique and better by adding more elements, but after Mr Vinod's correction I’ve learned that clear, thoughtful typography often has a stronger impact. Like they say " Simplicity is the key", Well-designed type doesn’t just look good—it helps guide the reader, supports the message, and makes the content easier to engage with. This module has helped me see the importance of restraint and purpose in design. I now understand that good typography isn't just about being creative—it's about being intentional.
